The Visionary Behind The Artist 

Romero D Malone 

Romero Malone is an American Executive, Singer, Songwriter, Actor, and Inspirational Speaker who currently performs under the stage moniker MERO M. Romero Malone has a history of overcoming adversity and fighting for the rights of those around him. Raised in South Memphis, Tennessee, Romero went to a high school that was considered very low income. He felt that his school was underfunded and was not afforded the same opportunities as other schools in more predominately thriving areas. The school lacked much-needed necessities in order to graduate such as a guidance counselor. The school even lacked basic amenities such as air conditioners for classrooms, computers for students to work on, and even books. Romero saw a need for change in his school and if no one else stepped up to the cause he knew that he wanted to be the one.

 

Under his leadership, Romero was able to get the board to provide funding for the school. Romero was  able to work with many school board officials and government officials to bring back electives such as choir and band. Romero was able to petition and create a plan of action to acquire funding for things such as; books, computers, and air conditioners in classrooms. Romero spent his early adulthood raising awareness about the need for equality and unity across the entire school system. Mr. Malone was able to help create policies and by-laws that have been a catalyst and a model for other schools in the Shelby County and Tennessee School system which have remain intact to this day. In May of 2017, Romero began his career as a flight attendant for the largest regional airline in the U.S. SkyWest Airlines Inc. There he began to hone more of his craft as a leader flying, becoming an advocate for the flight attendant rights to leadership and management while providing excellent service to countless passengers from all over the world.

 

In October of 2020, Romero would have a monumental achievement as the youngest (at age 25), and first Black/African-American to be President of SkyWest Inflight Association. Mr. Malone in conjunction with SkyWest Inflight Association (SIA), is responsible for negotiating with SkyWest Airlines Inc.’s (“SkyWest”) management in regard to the terms and conditions of employment, wages, work hours, benefits, schedules, and any other compensation relating to SkyWest flight attendants. Romero oversees this process operating the day to day operations of the organization in which he oversaw close to 5,000 flight attendants. Under Romero’s leadership, he was an advocate for change in the flight attendant quality of life and actively fights to make sure SkyWest pay maintains competitive against all other regional carriers. Romero has been an advocate and promoter for diversity and inclusion not only within his airline, but in his community making sure that all members of his company know that they are important and valued. Romero has received numerous awards in his community for his Activism in Student and Civil Rights. One of the highest honors he has received thus far, is the Rising Star Award- given forth by the Mayor of Memphis and Governor of Tennessee for his outstanding achievements in the fight for minority equal educational opportunities and student rights. In October 2021, Romero would resign from his position. In January of 2022, Romero the created the artist name/ brand: MERO M. in order to go back to his core roots of doing the thing he loves which is his music. Romero currently manages, brands, and markets his own self as an artist under the moniker MERO M.  

 

Romero believes in hire the best at who can get the job done. that all should be given the same opportunity no matter race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Romero has proven that fighting for others is who he is and has become pillar of hope to countless young individuals aspiring to achieve.

In October 2020, Romero made history by becoming the first Black Labor Union President in the company's history.

Romero has received numerous awards in his community for his Activism in Student and Civil Rights. One of the highest honors he has received thus far, is the Rising Star Award- given forth by the Mayor of Memphis and Governor of Tennessee for his outstanding achievements in the fight for minority equal educational opportunities and student rights.
